What information we collect and how we use it
When you visit our Web site, ELB Books collects your IP address, which we use to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer our Web site, and to improve our products and services. Your IP address also is used to gather broad demographic information that does not personally identify you, but rather used for improving our web site.
To request more information about an item, you must provide your e-mail address so that we may reply to your question by e-mail.
To order from us, you must set up an ELB Books account. Setting up an account requires you to provide your e-mail address and to choose a password (Create account). When you order from us, we also ask for your name, shipping address, and telephone number (Create account). Payments are processed by a secured third party (Paypal) who will ask for your credit card number, billing address, and expiration date (your “Billing Information”). This information is necessary for us to process your order, to notify you of your order status, and to fulfill orders. Your financial information used by Paypal are secured and hidden. We DON’T have access to those info by any means.
If you subscribe to the ELB Books newsletter, we may use your Account Information and Order Information to occasionally notify you about important changes to our Web site, new ELB Books features, or special ELB Books offers you may find useful. If you would rather not receive this information, visit the (Your Account) page to change your preferences. You always have the ability to change your preferences. If you have chosen to receive this information and change your mind, visit the Your Account page to change your preferences. (Whenever you decided to change your preferences, please make sure to change your preferences for each account or e-mail address you have left with us.) To delete your account from our system, please contact us.
You may also choose to provide personal information, such as your name and e-mail address, when you enter a contest or drawing, set up a Book Fetch request, or participate in a survey. We may use this information the same way we use your Account Information and Order Information. At any time, you may visit the (Your Account) page and remove all of your requests.
How we protect your information
This Web site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. When you place orders or access your account information, we use a secure server. The secure sockets layer (SSL) encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. All of the customer data we collect is similarly protected against unauthorized access. Your credit card info are protected by Paypal.
ELB Books will not share your personal information with third parties unless you have consented to the disclosure or the disclosure is necessary to (1) comply with the law or with legal process, (2) protect and defend our rights and property, (3) protect our customers or users from misuse or unauthorized use of the ELB Books Web site, (4) protect the personal safety or property of our customers or the public, (5) process credit-card payments or other payment-method transactions through Paypal, or, (6) facilitate promotional offers to customers. Third-party access is limited to personal information needed to perform their functions and may not be used for any other purposes.
